Members, not clients

A service agency has clients. A fraternal society has brothers. The difference is not sentimental — it is structural. Members are expected to show up for each other, and the men who came through first become the ones who mentor next. You are not a file that gets closed. Once you are in, you are in, and the obligation runs both ways.
